These pre-drywall mounting rings provide a single gang mounting surface for wall plates or wall accessories.  They are generally affixed to wood or metal studs during the framing and pre-wire stage of construction.

These post-drywall mounting rings provide a single gang mounting surface for wall plates or wall accessories.  They are generally installed after drywall has been completed and allow a "cut-in" for single gang wall plates.
