Let's say you lost you legs in an accident. You would be wheelchair bound and have no confusion about
who you were.
Some more mishap comes your way, and you lose your arms. Your sense of self would still remain intact
despite the loss of limbs.
Now your kidneys fail. You are connected to a dyalisis machine waiting for a donor. A machine is now
assisting with your life support functions.
Your heart weakens and a pacemaker regulates your heartbeat.
And so it goes....one by one your organs fail, and life support hardware takes over the job of keeping
what remains of your body alive. By now, you are more machine than human.
Through all this, your sense of self is still intact. You do not suddenly feel you have become your dyalisis machine or your pacemaker.
Considering that if a portion of your brain is removed, the remaining sections take over, it leaves us with a perplexing question.....
Where are you....?
And if you can grasp this....think about what you can become!
